Students have different nationalities, ages, professions and backgrounds. They do not need to speak English or any other common language because lessons are taught in Turkish. Even if you are a zero Beginner you will have no problem following lessons. Don't worry !

Teachers of Turkish are all university graduates in language studies. Also they hold a British Council Certificate in teaching. Our teachers are specially trained to teach Turkish and they are required to follow the latest teaching methods. Teachers working for Concept Languages are professionals in teaching different levels and creating a student-friendly atmosphere in class.

Methods used at Concept Languages are based on the Communicative Approach in which the activities involve real communication and are meaningful to the learner, such as conversation, discussion and role plays and also developing certain language skills and functions. Communicative language teaching uses almost any activity that engages learners in authentic communication, including samples from real life ( newspapers, e-mail messages, films, tickets, brochures, stories, commercials, guests in the class...) and benefits from new approaches, namely NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) and task-based learning.

Materials vary from samples from real life - as you can see above- to course books and supplementary materials. Students are given a main course book and activities prepared by teachers. Through these materials they listen to dialogues, read different kinds of texts, practise speaking and improve their writing. Since every student has a different way of learning and pace, classes are planned to meet everybody's needs. Every semester each class reads a short story, prepares a project or watches a film according to the level. Students are supposed to buy a good dictionary from a bookstore, but they can borrow books from our small library.

Levels are defined by a Placement Test, written and oral, for newcomers. At Concept Languages there are 7 levels: Beginner, Elementary, Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate, Upper-Intermediate, Advanced 1 and Advanced 2. The Beginner's level takes 36 hours to complete. Other levels take 72 hours each to be completed. Of course, the completion of any level depends highly on the pace of students.

Exams are held at the end of each level. If a student cannot pass a level test, s/he needs to take one-to-one lessons to catch up with the class or s/he can repeat the same level.

Timetables for classes are announced a month before so keep an eye on the news page! For private students, lessons can be held 1 hour a week or it can go up to 40 hours a week according to a student's preferences.
